Acquired Language and Speech Disorders - Speech Language Therapist (SLT) can help improve communication with understanding and expression incl. speech, writing, keyboard use, understanding spoken and written words etc. (after Stroke,in Parkinson's Disease etc.) May involve accessing computer technology e/g an IPAD.
Auditory Processing Disorder - SLT can help with listening and comprehension of speech.
Hearing impairment -SLT provides screening pure tone audiometry, help with improving clarity of speech and intonation.
Specific Learning Difficulties - in adults with intellectual impairment e.g. Down Syndrome,etc.
Stuttering/Cluttering - Adults who have not been successfully treated in childhood or who acquire a Neurogenic stutter.
Swallowing/Feeding Disorders - SLT can assess and advise and refer on for a Videofluorscopy (Modified Barium Swallow) at the Hospital.
Traumatic Brain Injury - SLT can assess and provide treatment for communication and cognitive deficits post head injury.
Voice Disorders - SLT can assess and treat a number of voice disorders.This may also require referral to ENT for examination of the larynx (if this has not already been done.)
